Pricey Central Phoenix Homes

The North Central Corridor is one of the pricier areas of Central Phoenix combining custom estates and luxury historic estates. But, it’s not hard to understand why, especially if you’ve gotten whiplash trying to view these hidden homes.

Price Ranges In the North Central Phoenix Corridor

The homes in North Central proper range between $800,000 to $7 million and rising. But, if your pocketbook doesn’t allow for that, there are plenty of very cozy patio homes and townhomes in the immediate area.

Living in North Central Phoenix Doesn’t Have to Cost You a Fortune

In fact, every time someone tells me they want a patio home, I instantly think of North Central Phoenix. But, if it’s a house that you want, there are some more modest homes in the $300,00- $450,000 range that are just a little bit north and east. The people in the entire area are wonderful and the community is spectacular. Visit the North Central Phoenix Neighborhood Association.

The Streets and Homes on Central Avenue

Streets that veer on and just off Central Avenue are surrounded by stunning mature shade trees. Additionally, the homes are loaded with manicured lawns and gorgeous landscaping.

With very large, open yet private lots, this corridor’s homes are just a force to be reckoned with. It’s very difficult to get a good look at these homes from Central Avenue. Even if you’re walking, many of the lots are recessed so far back and/or smother with towering trees, it’s not always easy to get a good look.

North Central Corridor Home’s Architectural Mix

The North Central Corridor has its own mix of architecture ranging from traditional French Provincial, Cape Cods and huge, sprawling Ranch-styled homes. There are even more modern styles. The mix is very pleasing to the eyes with mid-20th century character and charm.

Plus, even though you’re in the heart of so much Phoenix has to offer, there’s still a distant urban feel in this corridor.

Not Officially a Historic District, Yet Many Homes Are on the National Registry

The neighborhood itself has not yet received official historic designation, and probably won’t, however, with its great history of more than half a century, there are plenty of vintage homes for sale.

Plus, many of the homes are on the National Registry of Historic Places. Even though there are tons of newly constructed monstrosities being built along Central Avenue, don’t be fooled as most of the homes ooze character and age.

Close to Downtown Phoenix

The older part North Central Phoenix area extends through the Central Camelback Corridor just past Northern Avenue. “North Central” is relative to downtown Phoenix as the area has grown so much in recent years.

Many people believe that the North Central Phoenix area is just an extension of the booming downtown Phoenix. There are so many beautiful, upscale mansions and estate homes smothering this corridor along with huge, fragrant citrus trees. Most homes sit on very large, irrigated lots with mature landscaping. This is pretty much the norm of home ownership in North Central Phoenix.

Murphy Bridle Path

The historic Murphy Bridle Path is on both sides of Central Avenue. It has unpaved gravel paths and old growth Olive and Elm trees. Every time I drive up & down Central, from about Bethany Home Road to Northern Avenue, I see regular walkers, dog walkers, people walkers, runners, and housewives strolling their kids while enjoying the posh trees and serene views. Oh, and the Murphy Bridle Path is listed in the City of Phoenix Historic Register. It’s that cool.
